Artist Statement

My work focuses on the effects of nature and the power of creation.

Through paint, calculated images create a space for positivity. The looseness of strokes in the open, remarkable skies of my landscapes reflect an emotional release.

Years of photography heavily influence my composition and color palette.  I always frame my vision of a painting prior to beginning;  composition trumps all.  My heavy use of blue hues and bright tones were first captured by my lens and carry over to my paintings today.

Through my process, my intent is to shift the viewer away from the mundane, everyday duties and elements of life.  Painting transports me to a place of stillness and laughter.

The spectacular vistas of my landscapes and seascapes encourage contemplation to pause, pacify, and elicit respect--time to recover.
